A ‘Gal Friday’ For Home Project Planning and Execution

One of my goals for this website is to connect Darien’s small businesses and individuals providing services of value to the community with the people in our community who need them.

They’re the “people in your neighborhood” with odd or not-easily-classified skills and services, and a listing in the Yellow Pages just wouldn’t do what they do justice.  OR they’re the people with such a unique and/or desirable set of skills who only people ‘in the know’ know about — and if you don’t know the people ‘in the know’ or which ‘in the know’ people to ask, you’ll never find out about them.

I’ll call them “Neighborpreneurs,” and now you know you can just come to this website and find them.

WW Homes is a perfect example of the kind of niche business you want and need to know about, run by longtime Darien resident Wendy Ward, who also grew up in town and really knows the area.

Her specialty: dealing with whatever you don’t have the time or skill or vision or resources or knowledge to deal with yourself when it comes to improving your home…..

Her clients range from out-of-towners with local needs (an aging parent’s home requiring renovation) to busy moms for whom finding the time to go tile shopping is just not possible.  Whether you’re choosing paint colors for a guest room or planning to renovate the downstairs bathroom, WW Homes is there to help in whatever capacity you need: from decorating assistance to interviewing/overseeing contractors to sourcing the right pedestal sink.

Moving in or out and want the house to be ready (rooms painted to your specifications, leaky faucets repaired, scary basement re-finished and yard landscaped to perfection) when you leave or arrive?  WW Homes will make it happen.  Just want to spruce up your living room but haven’t had the time or vision to know where to start?  Wendy can help with that too.  Essentially, she’s your home project ‘Gal Friday.’  She knows who to call and how to get things done.

The best way to know whether or not your project is something she can help you with is to send her an email describing the job.  If she feels she could add value, she’ll meet with you to discuss further: and you can go from there.

I’m excited to announce that Wendy will be the AllAboutDarien.com “Get It Done” Expert in our Ask An Expert forum area, which will be re-launching very soon — so she’ll be posting a few “insider” tips and tricks of her own every so often as well as answering reader questions about getting things done in your home.  Keep an eye out for the announcement in the coming days!
