‘New Neighbors’ Welcomes You to Darien

My latest addition to the Neighborpreneurs category is a group of longtime Darien residents who believe that, when you’re new to town, nothing beats a friendly face and the genuine interest in helping you get settled in that an in-person greeter can provide (and I couldn’t agree more!)

New Neighbors is an independently-run ‘welcome wagon,’ comprised of Darien residents Linda Smith, Marianne Reifenheiser, and Susan Cator, each of whom has lived (and raised their children) in Darien for years.

In addition to bringing a new resident/family a nice, juicy package of helpful information about town and coupons and special offers from local retailers, they bring a wealth of local experience and contacts that they are more than happy to share in order to connect new residents with all of the resources they need to feel truly at home in Darien.

The at-home visit can last 15 minutes or upwards of an hour, depending on how many questions the new resident has, and there is no hidden agenda: it’s a service that has been helping neighbors in town for over 20 years, run by women in the community who truly care about helping new residents settle in.

As I like to do with Neighborpreneurs, I asked Susan Cator what her favorite thing about Darien is.  She replied: “The strong sense of community in town, and all of my neighbors and friends.”
