Free Movie Nights, All Around Town

Last night was super fun: it was the Free Movie at Tilley Pond, and although we didn’t last for the movie (toddler meltdown) we fully enjoyed our picnic: at about 6pm, Robert Allen began playing: nice mellow guitar and keyboard combo.  There was a nice breeze until the sun went down that kept the bugs away.  There was Gofer ice cream, free popcorn, face painting by The Darien Toy Box and a slapshot booth with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers which was fun for the kids.  The next movie at Tilley will be Casablanca, on August 11th — you should really try to make it!

Speaking of free movies, those of you who read your AllAbout This Weekend newsletter last week probably noticed that, in addition to movies playing at the Darien Playhouse, I listed the free movie at the Darien Library.  Every Friday night this summer they will be showing a free movie in their new auditorium, and they are really current releases — last Friday was “Taken,” and this Friday is “Last Chance Harvey.“  Kind of a fun idea: movie starts at 7:30, and free refreshments are served too.

Finally, I unfortunately missed the Darien Youth Commission’s Family Movie Night at Weed Beach, did anyone go and/or would you care to share some feedback?
