The “Pink” Post

Welcome to AllAboutDarien.com’s 2nd annual “Pink” Post.

While October is all about pink and there is lots going on around Fairfield County to raise awareness for breast cancer, which you can find out more about at the official Paint The Town Pink site, the AllAboutDarien.com Pink Post highlights Darien-based activities and events to encourage participation and awareness among our community members.

All month long, to support breast cancer awareness, Upper Crust Bagel & Deli is offering any sized coffee for $1 or any lunch sandwich for $4.99 to customers wearing pink or mentioning breast cancer awareness month.

Kicking off the month on Thursday, October 1st, Williams & Warren invites you to a special trunk show and shopping event at Saks.  Reservations are required: please see here for more information.

In the spirit of breast cancer awareness, this is something you might not have known: Williams & Warren, AllAboutDarien.com’s preferred body and skincare clinic, also offers special cancer care services, performed by The New York Presbyterian Hospital’s renowned reconstructive and plastic surgeon, Dr. Gregory S. LaTrenta. Gift certificates are available for these special services, and can you think of a better way to treat that brave woman you know to something wonderful in support of her strength and/or success?  To find out more, click here.

On Thursday, October 15th, the Darien Design Center will host “Fashion With Flair: A Parade For Pink,” a free home and apparel fashion celebration to include pink hors d’oeuvres and a fashion show by Helen Ainson.  15% of proceeds earned from shopping at either store the next two days will be donated to the Stamford Hospital Mobile Mammography Program.

On Friday, October 16th, the championship-winning Darien High School Girls’ Volleyball Team invites you to wear pink and join them at their Dig Pink fund-raising match against the Wilton Warriors.  The girls are hoping to raise $5,000 this year as part of a national fund-raising event among high school and college teams around the world to raise awareness of breast cancer and help find a cure.  Admission to the matches, which begin at 4pm and include Freshman, JV and Varsity teams, is $5.00 per person.  If you’d like to make a donation online, visit: http://home.att.net/~coachylarue/volleyball/
