HOORAY FOR HALLOWEEN DARIEN!

Now Open — Noroton Heights Fire Station Pumpkin PatchSip warm cider while tromping through the Heights Station’s second annual pumpkin patch and fund-raiser, which includes fire truck rides and that warm, fuzzy, neighborhood feeling.  Continues through Halloween on Thursdays and Fridays, 6pm to 8pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6pm.

SPOOKY … Grave Rubbing class at the Darien Historical Society! — October 21st, 3:45pm to 4:45pm at Noroton Graveyard (next to Giovanni’s Restaurant) Get ready for Halloween by learning the art of grave rubbing. Explore the meaning of images on early gravestone carvings and create rubbings of your own. Open to youths 7 and older; materials fee is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Advanced registration available at info@darienhistorical.org or by calling 655-9233.

DARIEN LIBRARY- STORIES TO CHILL YOUR BONES- – October 22nd, 6 pm. Spooky stories in
honor of Halloween! This program will include, ‘jump’ stories, songs and folk tales. Recommended for ages 7 to 10 years.

HALLOWEEN WINDOW PAINTING CONTEST Sponsored by the Darien Youth Commission – October 24th.  Darien residents in Grades 6-12 are invited to decorate a window in Downtown Darien. All teams must be pre-registered.  Windows are available on a first come first serve basis. Call 656-7326 for more information.

Tokeneke Pumpkin Carnival – October 24th, 10:00am-4:00pm — It’s back and better than ever!  Enjoy more rides and inflatables than ever before plus fun new events like scarecrow stuffing, all the while admiring the fabulously renovated Tokeneke School.

Halloween Hoot & Howl — October 25th, 4-6:00pm, Darien Nature Center –A family open house.  Among the fun events planned are hayrides, mystery walks, campfire stories, seasonal craft projects, refreshments and lots of live animals. This event is recommended for children of all ages.  And, for the first time, the Darien Nature Center invites your child to participate in a

CRITTER CARVING CONTEST

Pick your favorite animal and see if you can’t make it out of pumpkins! Pumpkins can be dropped off at the Darien Nature Center on Saturday, October 24th, between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. They will be judged and displayed at Hoot & Howl.

Darien YMCA Haunted Gymnasium and Halloween Party – October 30th, 6:30pm-8:00pm — Witches’ Caudron… Ghoulish Games… Monster Mash Dance… Tricks & Treats.  This annual favorite is perfect for kids 2 – 12 and all who are “young at heart”.   Parents and kids are welcome to come in costume.  Freakishly Free!!
