The New, Y-Wow-CA Website
I guess that title is kind of cheesey, but it grabbed your attention, right? I have been planning for some time to roll up my sleeves and dig into each of our community’s not-for-profits, to summarize for you what makes each of them special and highlight ways you can participate in supporting them, and the first one I’ve been wanting to feature is the YWCA of Darien-Norwalk.
This little white house between the Darien Ice Rink and Goodwives Shopping Plaza has always been, to me, a house with a creaky stairway and a big studio upstairs where I (and my sisters) took ballet classes with Susie Warren when I was growing up. But since I moved back here, I have heard nothing but amazing things about the programs the YWCA of Darien-Norwalk offers — from Newcomers and Wine-Tasting clubs to Lectures that matter to me, as a parent and mom and woman, not to mention a variety of fun events and community services — and it seems like every new friend I make in town is connected, in some way, to this organization. P.S: I am becoming a member THIS week and am SO excited to explore it all; from what I understand, even the little house has evolved!
So I happened to visit their website just now and discovered that it has been recently re-vamped and includes a dynamic calendar of events, easy links to info about each of its programs, and even a welcome video from the new Executive Director — all right on the home page. Which means … um … I really don’t think I need to do more than direct you there to find out ALL about them!
