Ridgefield’s Talk of Our Town has started a fun game of Blog Tag. The rules are simple. First, the tagged blog has to tell 10 things about their blog and in turn tag 5 blogs that inspire them. We agree with Talk of Our Town that acknowledgement of blogs and websites we appreciate will bring great content and valuable links to our followers and build a local network of bloggers. 10 Things about AllAboutDarien.com
1. Founded by a current Darien mom who also grew up in town.
2. When I launched this site in 2007, I thought “if I put it up, they will all add their own secrets and insights” (a-la-Craigslist). Turns out, not so much!! But that’s okay, I’ve had a great time leading the content and am looking forward to launching a new product that will hopefully help get my readers more engaged in creating content.
3. AllAboutDarien.com does not include local news. Rather, is intended to create a context for life in our community through insider perspectives and helpful tips.
4. 1/3 of repeat visitors to AllAboutDarien.com are from towns outside of Darien… which, to me, means us local bloggers are really starting to help connect the dots between communities.
5. All posts that go live on AllAboutDarien.com are also posted to our Facebook Fan Page and Twitter accounts, which significantly increases our reach and is the ultimate combination of information “push-pull.”
6. The Darien Weekend Agenda is a true labor of love, created each Thursday night after personally scouring all local events, sales and special offers, local bulletin boards, and more to ensure I am delivering the most comprehensive summary of all Darien happenings to your email box every Friday morning.
7. It’s fun for me to see the (patent-pending) preppy plaid DAR logo sticker on cars throughout Fairfield County: similar stickers were made for Rowayton, New Canaan, and Fairfield County and can be purchased here. We also offers T-shirts, baby bibs, beach towels, doggie sweaters and other fun apparel with the DAR and FFC logos here.
8. AllAboutFairfieldCounty.com is our sister site, created to be a central resource for insider community info, services, events and lifestyle information beyond Darien and throughout Fairfield County. It is also designed to be a centralized resource for independent local community bloggers — if you are one of those and would like to have an RSS feed of your most recent posts featured on the site, please email me your feed.
9. We offer a few different ways for businesses to advertise on the site, to be posted shortly, and are always open to customized solutions or promotions, giveaways, and other creative ways to engage and drive sales through our audience.
