What To Do This Winter…?
I’ve got a 2-year-old who is bouncing off the walls this morning and am toiling away on a website face-lift that is turning out to be like any other renovation (taking twice as long and costing ten times more than I planned!) … which has inspired me to share a couple of tips and suggestions I’ve picked up about things to keep you and your family busy this winter.
Tire out the toddlers at OPEN GYM at the YMCA’s Gymnastics Building — $15/session for members, $20/session for non-members — Monday, Weds and Fridays from 12pm to 12:45pm. No reservation required — you can register/pay online or at the YMCA main office. Open access to the gigantic gymnastics gym (behind Goodwives Shopping Plaza) with tumbling mats galore. Tons of room for kids of all ages to tear around, jump, swing and slide. YESSSSSSSSS!
Also, if you’ve got a teen or pre-teen (age 11 through 17) who wants to get in shape, the Y offers a youth gym membership — which is great to know about, because most gyms in the area have a minimum age requirement of 18. I think Pedal and Pump also offers a teen membership.
From Mommy and Me Yoga to Learning a Foreign Language, Musical Theater and learning to network on Linked In, the Darien Summer & Continuing Education department’s got a winter course for everyone in the household.
And, if you made a new year’s resolution to finally figure out Facebook, Twitter and/or how to use the web and social media — or to start a new business — check out this new course being offered through the YWCA by YOURS TRULY! Course is limited to ten people, and it starts next Monday – so register ASAP!
Cheers to a happy new year and active winter season for us all!
