Services for Darien Residents Aged 60+

Darien residents who are aged 60 or older should write down, circle, underline and post this phone number on their refrigerator door: 203-585-4094.  You can call this number any time to access a variety of free services to help you navigate living independently in town, thanks to the newly combined not-for-profit entities now called “Aging in Place + Gallivant.”  There is a fantastic website where you can find out much more (click here) but some of the services offered include:

• Transportation within Darien, Stamford, Norwalk, and New Canaan (Handicap accessible);

• Free telephone referral, advice and counsel to seniors within 24 hours on weekdays;

• Discounted vetted services, such as electricians, plumbers, handyman and chore services;

• Volunteer leaf raking, snow shoveling, friendly visitors and shopping assistance;

• Bi-annual Out and About newsletter;

• Monthly e-mail blasts promoting events and services of interest to seniors; and

• Social and educational programs throughout the community.
