Have you wondered why there’s not an intersection/ or pedestrian signage at a nearby intersection? Do you think speeding through residential neighborhoods is a problem in your area? Think we could use paddle board and kayak rentals and storage or a seasonal pool? Darien Parks & Recreation is inviting all Darien residents to complete a 5-minute survey to help guide their plans for expansion of Weed Beach into an adjacent lot the town purchased last year. There will be public follow up meetings on Nov 10th and Jan 26th at 6:30pm (at the Town Hall) to review proposals and provide feedback on plans. To add your input, complete the online survey here.  Conference Week Around the Corner All public elementary schools in Darien have early dismissal December 1st-4th for Parent Teacher Conferences. We’ll be pulling together some ideas for keeping the kids occupied after school that week, but you might want to jump on the afterschool camps being offered by Overtime Athletics on site at Hindley, Ox Ridge, and Tokeneke. October 16, 2015 Grand Opening Sunday ~ Bring in your Golden Ticket for a chance to WIN BIG Prizes include: Free Chocolate for A Year, Free Gift Cards, Free Candy for a Year, Free Birthday Parties, Free Ladies’ Nights Out and more!!  Mental Notes  Meet The Candidates for Town Election If you’re new to town, or perhaps feeling a little less in-the-know than you’d like to be about who is running for town government positions including Selectmen and Planning & Zoning, the Darien League of Women Voters is hosting a “Candidates Night” on Tuesday, October 20th, at the Town Hall Auditorium at 7pm. Candidates will all present their cases to the community, and there will be an opportunity for Q&A. For information on how to register to vote, click here.  A Request for Toddler Supplies The Darien nonprofit, The Tiny Miracles Foundation (TTMF), can use some help assisting a family in need. TTMF provided financial assistance to this family when the premature baby was in the NICU in 2013. Now, after 29 months in hospitals and rehab facilities, this “tiny miracle” is finally going home. TTMF is holding a special emergency drive to collect specific supplies: diapers – size 5 or 6, wipes, boy clothing – size 3T or 4T, sheets for a twin size bed TTMF will coordinate delivery of all items to the family. Breakout groups are organized according to similar ages of children, creating supportive circles of moms with similar experiences.
