Make sure your opinions are considered by committees as they form their recommendations for the town by completing these brief online surveys:

  • Pedestrian Safety Survey — Do you ever wish there were sidewalks or more lighting in your neighborhood, on your walk to the train or where your kids play? Have you wondered why there’s not an intersection/ or pedestrian signage at a nearby intersection? Do you think speeding through residential neighborhoods is a problem in your area?
  • Weed Beach Expansion Survey — Here’s your chance to let the Darien Pedestrian Infrastructure Advisory Committee know as they prepare recommendations for the town.

There will be public follow up meetings on Nov 10th and Jan 26th at 6:30pm (at the Town Hall) to review proposals and provide feedback on plans.

In celebration of its 25th year, Darien teens, parents and members of the community will ride in suppprt of The Depot.  Darien’s non-profit community organization provides our high school children with a drug and alcohol free environment.  Talented JoyRide instructor and DHS parent, Dina Fay will teach this fun class, which will be suitable for all ages and levels of fitness!  Conference Week Around the Corner

All public elementary schools in Darien have early dismissal December 1st-4th for Parent Teacher Conferences. We’ll be pulling together some ideas for keeping the kids occupied after school that week, but you might want to jump on the afterschool camps being offered by Overtime Athletics on site at Hindley, Ox Ridge, and Tokeneke.  Meet The Candidates for Town Election

If you’re new to town, or perhaps feeling a little less in-the-know than you’d like to be about who is running for town government positions including Selectmen and Planning & Zoning, the Darien League of Women Voters is hosting a “Candidates Night” on Tuesday, October 20th, at the Town Hall Auditorium at 7pm. Candidates will all present their cases to the community, and there will be an opportunity for Q&A.

 A Request for Toddler Supplies

The Darien nonprofit, The Tiny Miracles Foundation (TTMF), can use some help assisting a family in need. TTMF provided financial assistance to this family when the premature baby was in the NICU in 2013. Now, after 29 months in hospitals and rehab facilities, this “tiny miracle” is finally going home. TTMF is holding a special emergency drive to collect specific supplies: diapers – size 5 or 6, wipes, boy clothing – size 3T or 4T, sheets for a twin size bed

TTMF will coordinate delivery of all items to the family. If you are able to help, please contact Jennifer Johnson at 203-202-9714 or jenniferjohnson@ttmf.org to arrange for pick-up or delivery. THANK YOU!

 Mom’s Oasis Ministry

Offered through the Noroton Presbyterian Church to moms of all faiths, this once-weekly morning session includes childcare for the little ones and a structured morning of discussion and workshops for moms of infants through 5 year-olds on topics of parenting, relationships and more. Breakout groups are organized according to similar ages of children, creating supportive circles of moms with similar experiences.
