You’ve no doubt seen the absolutely mind-blowingly fabulous new library building getting its finishing touches on the Post Road, and from what I hear this new building is going to completely change the way we think of a Library experience!
However, I do have a bit of a lump in my throat hearing that the doors to the little building on Leroy where I spent so much time as a young student are actually going to close this weekend. Forever!?!
I hope she won’t mind, but I would like to post the note the Head of the Children’s Department sent me, as it is packed with great information that I think we’d all be interested in … click the link to read more. Click To Read More of This Post

So they’ve gone ahead and done it, and if you live in the area you have probably been bracing yourself for the eventuality, but if you don’t you should brace yourself: it’s a big pain. The Hollow Tree Ridge Road train and highway bridge (right at Noroton Heights train station) has been closed to traffic.
Now foot traffic is still allowed (thank God, if it weren’t the 5 minute walk to the train so many of us enjoy in the neighborhood would increase by at least 25 minutes). However, for those of you who use Hollow Tree Ridge Road to get across town and through Noroton Heights, you need to plan a good 10 minutes of detour time to your route, or try to find another way that’s more direct.
And remember NOT to SPEED … if you think you’ll be able to zoom down Heights Road to make up for lost time, you’ll be sorry when Darien’s Finest pulls you over: I regularly see cars getting tickets on this road, and I imagine they’ll be paying closer attention to Maple Ave, which runs parallel to Heights Road but on the other side of the tracks & highway, as well.
I think I read that this is going to be a 6-month project … anyone?
