SUPER Special on Holiday Photos for AllAboutDarien.commers

Posted on: Tuesday November 4, 2008
Posted in: Neighborpreneurs

Okay, so, continuing on the “it’s not even Thanksgiving yet and you’re already talking about the HOLIDAYS?!” trend, I just couldn’t not pass this along … I mean, let’s face it, you really do have to start planning your holiday cards now if you want to get them out in time!

Here’s the great news: Darien resident and Neighborpreneur Blake Robinson, a professional portrait photographer with a studio in Norwalk, is offering a special discount to YOU, my dear AllAboutDarien.commers: for your holiday photo of the children or the whole family, he is offering $100 off a package that includes the shoot in his studio, Photoshop editing of the images and preparation of a CD of the images for you to use for your card (not included) and keep forever!

I have been planning to write more about Blake in a post, because he has one of those “I-used-to-be-a-corporate-player-but-traded-it-in-to-do-what-i-love” stories that I adore (and aspire to!) … but that will come later: right now, it’s all about the DISCOUNTS!!

Make this year’s holiday card picture perfect, give Blake a call and tell him I sent you — and book your session ASAP, as November is filling up quickly!  You can view Blake’s amazing work at his website.

‘New Neighbors’ Welcomes You to Darien

Posted on: Sunday September 7, 2008
Posted in: About Darien, House & 'Hood, Neighborpreneurs

My latest addition to the Neighborpreneurs category is a group of longtime Darien residents who believe that, when you’re new to town, nothing beats a friendly face and the genuine interest in helping you get settled in that an in-person greeter can provide (and I couldn’t agree more!)

New Neighbors is an independently-run ‘welcome wagon,’ comprised of Darien residents Linda Smith, Marianne Reifenheiser, and Susan Cator, each of whom has lived (and raised their children) in Darien for years.

In addition to bringing a new resident/family a nice, juicy package of helpful information about town and coupons and special offers from local retailers, they bring a wealth of local experience and contacts that they are more than happy to share in order to connect new residents with all of the resources they need to feel truly at home in Darien.  Click To Read More of This Post

Darien Trunk Show: Boden, Mini-Boden, Giddy Giddy, Tiny Bubbles and More!

Darien ‘Neighborpreneur’ and Mother of Two, Jennifer Erdlen, invites you to her home at 2 Little Brook Road next Monday, August 25th, from 9:30am - 2:30pm, for a trunk show featuring the Fall/Winter 2008 clothing labels Boden and Mini-Boden.  She will also be showcasing clothing and accessories by Giddy Giddy, Tiny Bubbles and Skipping Hippos.

All Boden and Mini-Boden trunk show purchases will receive 15% OFF, plus FREE shipping and FREE returns on all orders over $150. (as if you needed a reason to snatch up these darling monkey sweaters for your favorite little monkeys?!)

As an aside: looking at that fabulously dressed and put-together mom sending her child off to school in the picture reminds me of my favorite Suave commercial …. you know, the one where the woman goes through phases of Mommyhood?

She starts off cute and pregs, then they flash to her with greasy, unbrushed hair and a baby on her hip and holding a garbage bag, then they flash to her (this is the best!) in an adult bunny costume with two little ones at each leg with their trick-or-treat buckets (ha ha) …. and then, apparently, she “gets” that she doesn’t have to sacrifice looking great to be a Mom and have it all, and they flash to her with her two kids and one on the way, dressed to the nines with great hair and makeup on, looking trendy and gorgeous, with a huge, confident smile on her face.

Yeah, so as anyone who has run into me at Palmer’s can attest, I’m still somewhere between that second and third stage in the commercial … there’s definitely a giant bunny costume in my near future.  So I’m thinking that I will pay the sitter extra so I can wash my hair with Suave, scurry over to this trunk show to snag that purple Boden blazer, and perhaps when it arrives and I put it on I will magically flash forward to being fabulous and pulled-together too.

ANYWAY, I don’t know about you, but I’m always curious to know a little bit more about Darien moms-turned-entrepreneurs, so Jennifer was kind enough to answer a few questions for me (and you).  Read on to find out a few fun facts about our neighbor…
