Sunny Nails may have moved across town, but mani-pedi and massage lovers in and around the Heights will be delighted to know that there is a nice, new, large, shiny, super friendly and skilled with all the trimmings ‘nail place’ that just opened and is called DOLCE Nail & Spa. It’s on Heights Road, right next to Vavala’s. They’re open Mondays through Saturdays from 9:30am to 7:00pm. I’ll be uploading their listing and menu of services soon, but in the meantime wanted to spread the news …!
(It should probably be called Parents’ Night Out!) Friday, October 3rd, from 6pm to 9:30pm, the Darien YMCA is inviting you to drop off your potty-trained 3yr old (s) or older for a giant P-Jay Party!! Overseen by the Y’s capable childcare and educator staff, the little ones will enjoy a dinner of pancakes, sausage and bagels (breakfast for dinner?! SILLY!!) in addition to arts & crafts, games & gym, movies, snacks and fun with their friends for 3 and 1/2 blissful hours … so register asap before space runs out! Registration began Monday at the front desk of the Darien YMCA. Call for more information.
Members: $20 1st child, $15 additional child
Non-Members: $25 1st child, $20 additional child
While you’re at it, reserve your kids’ spot(s) for the November 7th Luau night out!!
It’s that time of year again … time to connect with a friend of a friend of a friend who is friends with a Yale or UVA alumnus, put on your Lilly, Lauren or Lacoste best, and get your tickets for the upscale polo, reunion and tailgate party in Darien that is: the Harriman Cup!
If you don’t follow polo, don’t worry: half of the people who attend this event do so for the tailgates and people-watching. Metro North teems with Manhattanites who train it ‘out to the country’ for the event (so don’t count on a local cab to be available this day), and all who attend the event look forward to re-connecting with old friends, mingling and meeting new ones while enjoying an afternoon of “civilized” socialization which, for many, is just a front for all-day drunken debauchery.
The Harriman Cup takes place at our beautiful Ox Ridge Hunt Club, and the cars start lining up for primo tailgating parking spots as early as 7am, so prepare to arrive early for good positioning!
Gates open on September 27th at 10am, the match and awards ceremony take place from 12 to 3:00pm, and from 3pm to 7pm (if you’re still standing) there is a live band.
