This morning was a perfect example of how efficeint - and important - our new Public School alert system is. For those of you whose kids are not in school yet, please read this alert to be informed about this morning’s case of Stranger Danger as reported by the Darien Police Station. We need to be on the lookout for our own kids’ - and each others kids’ - safety.
For those of you who heard about the incident through word of mouth, please visit the DPS website and register to receive future alerts via text and/or email, which include weather-related delays and closings as well as important public alerts. The Darien Times had an alert issued via its registered Alerts email list, which is another good thing to sign up for so your bases are covered. We can also count on the Darien Times to keep us all up to speed on the latest developments regarding this case.
(( HOLLA )) to Meg at FairfieldCountyChild.com for bringing this to my attention!! It’s a FREE Directory of 25 preschools in the FFC area, including Darien, and is something I know many of you (or your friends, pass it along!) will find extremely useful. For more information, click HERE.
Please feel free to post additions, reviews or other commentary about the schools in the directory (or others not listed) here, so we can benefit from our collective wisdom
I did have the pleasure of speaking with a few of our local preschool teachers earlier this year and got some inside scoop on what it’s all about around here, which I will share soon.
Go BLUE WAVE! It’s going to be a weekend of good old fashioned school spirit, TP-d trees, and general high school debauchery — ahhh the good old days. I always dreamed of being a Blue Wave Dancer, but went away to a high school that didn’t allow any kind of cheerleading….. Or food or drink. And they whipped us.
Well, okay, the school was only in Greenwich … and it actually wasn’t all that bad, and we did eat well and everyone drove really nice cars, it just didn’t allow cheerleading. So I lived vicariously through my best friend at DHS, who got to be a Blue Wave Dancer. I think I heard that they have since combined the Dancers with the Cheerleaders … does anyone have some scoop on that?
Anyway, don’t miss the parade, which proceeds from The Depot up Noroton Ave to the High School Saturday, starting at 11am … and the football game is at 2pm, against Bridgeport Central High School.
