A Video Guide to Darien Playgrounds

Darien_Playgrounds_Video_Tour

Updated Videos: 2015

My primary goal with these videos, in addition to being able to write off my iPhone as a business expense (ha), is to give those of you who are unfamiliar with the playgrounds an ability to assess whether it is going to be age and activity-appropriate for your little ones.

And, of course, to help you plan ahead for things like food, sunblock, and bathrooms (or lack thereof — if you haven’t read the fun and controversial ‘pee pee etiquette’ post, you should!)

Also, a request to those of you who are regulars to any of these places and/or have insider tips beyond what’s here: please add them as a comment for the benefit of the rest of us!

So here we go: the playgrounds and videos are listed in alphabetical order.  Please forgive my remedial iPhone video and YouTube editing skills…. when splicing together the individual shots, some of the quality appears to have been compromised in many of the videos.  One of these days I’ll get that figured out, but in the meantime I hope you can make out what you need to!

**Videos have background music, so please adjust volume accordingly for playback**

Please note: dogs are not allowed on any playgrounds at any time.

  1. wow! this is awesome.
    thanks

  2. What a great idea! Thanks for doing this! (and also, the ‘pee pee etiquette’ post was really great!)

  3. This is great! I’ll only add that the availability of the public bathrooms at Weed Beach confuses me. I think right now only the port-a-john is open.

  4. Dogs are not allowed in the playground areas at Baker, Cherry Lawn, McGuane or Weed Beach. Dogs are not allowed at Weed Beach at all.
