Hi, I’m Alison Meloy and I’ve been a Darien ‘Insider’ for more than 30 years. While raising my children in town, I participated in countless school and charity fundraisers and was one of the founding members of Darien’s teen center, The Depot.
Through years of carpools, dance recitals and varsity sports, summers at Weed Beach and Tokeneke Club, trips to the Emergency Room and (five) home renovations, I’ve seen a lot change in our town: shops have come and gone, neighborhoods have evolved, and technology has changed even the way we communicate with each other. But what hasn’t changed is the community’s commitment to and support of family. It’s a fantastic place for children, no matter what their age. I loved that my children could grow up here, and look forward to seeing my grandchildren, who live here now, also benefit from all that Darien has to offer.
Over the years I have also grown my own interior decorating business, Alison B Interiors, which was inspired by my passion for color and design. I think success in real estate and interior decorating go hand-in-hand: when you buy a house that belonged to someone else, it is often hard to execute on a vision or plan for how to make it your own. Conversely, when you’re preparing your house for sale, it is important to remove as much of your unique personality from your home as possible to ensure it is appealing to the broadest possible audience of buyers — but you still want it to look good!
As a contributor to AllAboutDarien.com, I will absolutely provide facts about the real estate market in Darien, new listings, price changes, homes sold and public open houses, but I will also offer tips and insights into the home ownership cycle and what it’s like to live in town. If you have any questions about anything at all, please don’t hesitate to email me and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Enjoy Darien!
