It’s true: just one three day weekend and a teeny weeny ice storm that kept the children home and “sooooooo booooooooooored,” was enough to make me start thinking about the summer and those long, unscheduled days. Time to get something on the calendar–and soon.
We’ll have more information about local camps as we get closer to summer, but if you’re ready to start making plans now, here are some local deals in or near Darien that you won’t want to miss:
- Downunder in Rowayton offers paddle boarding and kayaking camps for kids ages 6-8 (morning session, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm) or ages 9-12 (afternoon session, 1:00-4:00 pm). Sign up before the end of January and one week sessions are only $300 instead of the regularly priced $375.
- Overtime Athletics runs a popular camp through SONO Field House for kids 5-13 years old. Regular camp hours are 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, but there’s a before camp option that starts at 8:00 am and and aftercare option that goes until 5:30 pm. Registration opens on February 1st, and if you sign up in the first three days, the price is only $125 per week (versus the regular price of $225 per week).
- Connecticut Dance Center in Stamford runs dance camps throughout the summer. Their Princess Stories and Boy Adventures for kids ages 3-6 run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (and occasionally 1:00 pm to 4:00pm) and each week has a different theme from Frozen to The Little Mermaid to Cinderella. Contemporary dance camps for older kids (ages 6-12) last all day, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and run July 27-August 21st. Register during January and all camps are 50% off.
- Darien Summer School offers a range of classes and activities from academics to sports to arts of all kind. Registration began January 19th, and many programs have discounts in place if you register before the end of March. (For more information about Summer School, click here.)
