I’m not going to lie: I’m more excited about the new Star Wars movie than my kids. I blame myself and the decision to let them see the three miserable prequel movies, but so be it.
Apple picking is one of our favorite family adventures, and happily, Darien is located quite conveniently for quick trips to local orchards and other hotbeds of apple-centric activities. Here are some of our favorites:
The Woodland Park Nature Reserve offers more than 60 acres of woodland with hiking trails, ponds, wildlife galore, and more, with a main entrance and parking off of Middlesex Road between Hollow Tree Ridge Rd and Hoyt Streets. It’s a woodsy oasis that is lovely to wander through – especially with a dog (on-leash, of course) – ANY day, but today was especially fulfilling thanks to the Book Walk!

Parking passes for Darien High School are sold out. Extremely limited street parking will be available on portions of Holly Lane and Libby Lane (for more information click here and be sure to follow the posted signs). Parking is available in the lots at Middlesex Middle School and McGuane Park. Remember that alcohol is not allowed on school property.
